Bye, Bye Dad

Well, I just dropped you off at the air port. We got up at 4 and had you to the air port by 5. It’s always sad seeing you go but the blessings we got last night are helping me.  You will fly to Virginia today and we will drive to Evanston, Wy.

I’m glad you took the time to play with the kids as much as you could on the days leading up to you leaving. I think it definitely helped the little kids feel better about this whole thing.

I don’t know if Oakley climbed into you suitcase or if you put him there but I think he was totally ready to make that trip with you! We love you daddy!!

T minus 43 house!

It’s been a crazy two weeks since we learned about this African deployment. It has been amazing how much Ryan was able to get done in that amount of time. He even had two snow days to work around! Those gave us some nice family time though. We thought we would get family time on our family vacation for spring break but since the deployment was moved up, I will take that with the kids once Ryan has left. Hence this blog, keeping our family together even though we are literally half a world apart!

Well, you are packing up. We have less then 48 hours till you leave on a jet plane.

Oakley loved playing with all the gadgets and kept saluting everyone who came in the room. I told Papa that if Ryan gets to Africa and finds that things are missing, we should look under Oakley’s pillow. I’m just glad that no firearms were brought home!

Ryan was issued the new uniforms. It will take me a minute to get used to a new camo pattern.

Oakley loved trying everything on; including Ryan’s prescription glasses.
